Mad Cow holds open season auditions each summer for the coming season.  Periodic auditions, as needed, occur during the year.

Season 17 Auditions
 
Mad Cow Theatre is holding general season auditions by appointment only on June 22 – 24, 2013, for our 17th Season of plays, including Other Desert Cities, Venus in Fur, Table Manners, The Mountaintop, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The History Boys, and The Letters.  Performance dates are available on Mad Cow’s website.

We are looking for strong professional actors, ages 16 and over. Mad Cow is seeking a diverse company of actors and is committed to equal opportunity employment and a flexible, non-traditional casting policy. Non-traditional casting is defined as the casting of ethnic minorities, senior actors, female actors or actors with disabilities in roles where race, ethnicity, age, gender or ability is not germane.

For those performers interested in musical projects, please attend our general auditions as our musicals require singers with strong acting abilities. Please also find the audition announcement for The Light in the Piazza below. Auditions for Hair will be held at a later date.
Callbacks for specific productions will be held on future dates as needed. 

Please prepare two contrasting 1-minute monologues and bring a picture and resume. Mad Cow requests that monologues be from published plays. Please be familiar with the plays before auditioning. Perusals of the plays are available at the theatre  from 12 noon to 5:30pm beginning June 1, 2013, with extended hours on performance days.
 
Audition appointments will be on Saturday, June 22; Sunday, June 23; and Monday, June 24.

Mad Cow Theatre announces auditions for The Light in the Piazza
 
MAD COW THEATRE is holding auditions for its upcoming production of The Light in the Piazza with music and lyrics by Adam Guettel and book by Craig Lucas. Production dates are December 6, 2013, through January 5, 2014, with a possible extension.
 
Mad Cow Theatre is seeking professional singers/actors/dancers. Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of a legit musical theatre song or an art song and bring a picture and resume. An accompanist will be provided. Character descriptions can be found below

Audition time is as follows:
Sunday, June 30 from 5:30pm to 9pm.
 
Callbacks, which are by invitation only, will be held in the evening on Monday, July 1.

An elegant, self-possessed, practical and attractive American woman in middle age.
Legit soprano ranging from G below middle C up to G#.
Clara Johnson: 26. Margaret's daughter, young and naïve for her age.
Strong legit soprano ranging from low A, strong belt/mix to high E with a nice ring.
Fabrizio Naccerelli: Early 20s. A good-looking and charming Florentine.
Lyrical tenor to a high B.
Giuseppe Naccerelli: Late 20s - mid-30s. Fabrizio's slightly older brother. Baritone.
Franca Naccarelli: Late 20s - mid-30s. Giuseppe's wife. Legit soprano.
Signor Naccarelli: Mid-40s - 50s. Fabrizio's father. Baritone.
Signora Naccarelli: Mid-40s - 50s. Fabrizio's mother. Legit soprano.
Roy Johnson: 40s - 50s. Margaret's husband. Non-singing.

Ensemble:
In addition there is a very active ensemble who play a number of smaller roles:
Ensemble Woman One: Early - mid-20s.
An actress with a strong soprano (legit) low A to high A strong belt mix to high E.
Ensemble Man One: Must play early 20s. An actor who is a lyrical tenor and sings to a high B.
Ensemble Woman Two: An actress in her 40s - 50s with legit soprano.
Ensemble Man Two: An actor in his mid-40s - 50s. Baritone.
Ensemble Woman Three: An actress in her late 20s - 30s. Legit soprano.
Ensemble Man Three: An actor in his 30s. Baritone.
Ensemble Woman Four: Actress in her 50s - 60s with any vocal range.
Ensemble Man Four: Actor in his 50s - 60s. Baritone.
 
For Designers and Production Professionals
Mad Cow Theatre is seeking experienced Directors, Designers, Stage Managers, Assistant Stage Managers, Prop Designers, Scenic Painters and Technicians for its current and upcoming season.
